I'm packing my suitcase... have you already played that a thousand times? Annette Gröbly, founder of the children's creative platform Kiludo, reveals her best tips to combat boredom when travelling.
How much longer are we travelling? Are we there yet? We're bored! Travelling with children requires patience. What helps? Good ideas. "A little creative impetus is often enough to keep children occupied for hours - even without parents," says Annette Gröbly. Ten years ago, she founded the children's craft magazine Kiludo. "I wanted to create an all-round package of ideas for crafting, designing, playing and experimenting. It's important to me that the crafting inspiration and instructions are really suitable for children and not just motifs for the perfect DIY insta-story." This usually requires very little material. Material: Objects out of the handbag
Instructions
Prepare various objects from a handbag, drawer, restaurant table, etc. in front of you. Let the selected objects talk and tell each other stories.
Questions and answers
Number of players: From 3
Age: 7+
Material: Paper and pens
Instructions
Write questions about the journey on a piece of paper. Then fold the sheet and pass it on. Now everyone takes it in turn to write an answer. When you read through the questions and answers at the end, a lot of laughter is guaranteed.
Travel bingo
Number of players: From 2
Age: 5+
Material: Paper, coloured or felt-tip pens
Preparation
- Everyone draws a grid with the same number of boxes on their sheet of paper.
- Decide on the motifs together, one per box.
- Colour or label the boxes with the motifs discussed.
Instructions
During the journey, you keep ticking things that you have seen as you drive past. The winner is the person who has ticked all the boxes the quickest.
Traffic jam espionage

Age: 4+
Instructions
Are you stuck in a traffic jam in your car? Then look around and make up a story about the people in the car opposite. Where are they going and why are they travelling? But be careful: don't get caught watching them!
Cheating game
Number of players: From 2
Age: 4+
Instructions
Someone lists what he or she sees when looking out of the window, the others close their eyes. If the person recounts something wrong, the others immediately call out: Cheated! If it wasn't cheated, the point goes to the person who listed it. Otherwise it's the next person's turn. Whoever has 5 points first wins.
