The care & co modular system

As an employer, how do you support your employees in balancing work and care responsibilities?

When it comes to work-life balance, childcare is what springs to mind for most people. For many families, however, work-life balance remains an important issue even after the children have left home. Around 25% of employees support and care for close relatives alongside their work. This places a burden not just on the employees but also on the companies concerned. Often, caring relatives reduce their workload to relieve the burden on themselves. In the Federal Council report “Support for relatives providing care and nursing 2014”, support measures and work-life balance for employees with care responsibilities were described as a key social and economic challenge and one which was particularly urgent.

Today, 9 years later, more and more people are caring for close relatives alongside their work. For example, they support their chronically ill partner or look after their aging parents. Studies show that more than half of those in employment are confronted with this over the course of their careers. Consequently, the compatibility of work and care duties is an essential prerequisite for your employees and thus for the success of your company.

To achieve this balancing act, a research program at the Careum University of Applied Sciences, Department of Health, has developed a flexible modular kit that starts with the employers themselves. profawo, an association with considerable practical experience, has designed the modules for the companies in such a way that they can be easily integrated into HR and management work, as modules and individually.
